Benicio Del Toro is set to once again head to a galaxy far, far away with an offer for a role in another big sci-fi project. Today’s episode of Clevver News Feed is brought to you by the new John Green movie, Paper Towns in theaters July 24! After taking on a memorable role in last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Benicio Del Toro could be set to star in another big sci-fi franchise. First reported by The Wrap and now confirmed by multiple sources, Del Toro has been offered the role of a new villain for 2017’s Star Wars Episode 8. Though we’re still months away from The Force Awakens landing in theaters, with a new Star Wars film set to arrive in theaters every year and production set to begin early next year, expect Star Wars casting to be an ongoing process. There’s not much we know about the sequel or Del Toro’s potential role other than it’s set to arrive in theaters on May 26th, 2017 and will be written and directed by Looper’s Rian Johnson. It’s already been confirmed that The Force Awakens will include at least three main villains including Adam Driver as “Kylo Ren”, Domhnall Gleeson as “General Hux” and Game of Thrones’ Gwendolyn Christie as “Captain Phasma”. Like how The Empire Strikes Back introduced the Emperor, perhaps Del Toro will be the new big bad pulling the strings of the New Order?
